Second City Shift: a refined editorial approach for latest ING report

16 page map fold out print report

The Second City Shift: why established media still drives Europe’s most talked about cities, is a flagship report produced by the ING Media Research Unit as part of their ongoing Europe’s Most Talked About Cities series. Launched at MIPIM 2026 in Cannes, the world’s leading commercial property event, the piece needed to stand out in a highly competitive, insight-driven environment.

Working within a tight turnaround, the brief was to evolve the visual language established in previous editions and introduce a more refined, editorial approach. I developed a stripped-back design system that prioritised clarity, hierarchy and readability, allowing the data and narrative to lead. The final output was a 16-page printed map fold-out, combining considered typography, restrained colour use and clean grid structures to create a confident, contemporary feel.

Particular attention was given to pacing and flow across the fold-out format, ensuring the content remained engaging and easy to navigate in a physical, event-driven context. The result is a highly functional yet visually distinctive report that supports ING Media’s positioning as a credible, insight-led voice within the European real estate sector, while capturing the attention of thousands of MIPIM attendees.
